New Field Church Organizes - New Beginning Community COG, Pastor Evadne Knight

Congratulations to the New Beginning Community Church of God and its pastor, Reverend Evadne Knight.   On Sunday, November 18, the congregation, along with special guests and clergy from the surrounding area and Dr. Michael and Sharon Baker, convened to celebrate the organization of this new field church and the dedication of their newly completed Gilliam Fellowship Hall (thanks to Men and Women of Action).

The church began with seven people who fasted and prayed weekly at five different homes.  In 2008 they began having Sunday services at a hotel in Stockbridge, GA, with fourteen members.  During their time there they baptized eight new believers who joined their church as well.

In 2009 they purchased a building in McDonough where they currently continue to worship.  Recently, they completed their fellowship hall with the asisstance of North Georgia's Men and Women of Action, which is called the Gilliam Fellowship Hall in honor of their dearly beloved Deacon George Gilliam (deceased) and Deaconess Renetha Gilliam who labored tirelessly in this ministry from its inception.  The church stated on Sunday the following:  "We are gathered to dedicate and set apart the Gilliam Fellowship Hall which God has prospered his people to build for His glory.  This shall be a place where the Gospel of salvation shall be shared through the ministry of God's Word and where Christian lives shall be developed toward spiritual maturity and Christian fellowship."

The ceremony was performed by various members of their congregation including Dr. Michael Baker, who gave the spoken word and charge to the church.  Dr. Baker states "Pastor Knight provides visionary leadership, exemplifies the essence of servant leadership and demonstrates a caring pastoral heart."

The church stated this is not the completion of their work but a beginning of a new phase in their ministry where each member must re-dedicate him/herself to their various calling and serve God with fresh vitality and vigor.
